Kayla Sharland debuted for the New Zealand Women’s Black Sticks in 2003 at the early age of 18. Since that time Kayla has competed at three Olympic games – 2004 Athens, 2008 Beijing and more recently, Captaining the side to their most successful Olympics campaign in London in 2012. The team finished fourth, raising their world ranking to 3rd.
Kayla has also competed as part of the Black Sticks side at the 2006 and 2010 Commonwealth Games and made the World All Stars team in 2010.
2014 is a big year with the focus set on securing Gold at the Hockey World Cup and the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
